Main                  Music                  Blog                  Contact                  Pictures I was born in 1963. I am married. Among my influences I count: Iggy Pop, Sonic Youth, Elvis Costello, David Bowie, Joni Mitchell, Aimee Man, Neil Young, Talking Heads and every hippie that ever sat in front of a camp fire strumming an acoustic guitar. I play all the instruments on both CDs. I wrote all the songs on both CDs. In fact everything on this record right down to the packaging design was done by me. The CDs are manufactured by someone else. I grew up in Morehead, Kentucky, where I played a lot of Neil Young songs on campus. Began listening to punk rock. I moved to Toledo, Ohio where I played in cover bands, drank to much and generally led a degrading lifestyle. Began calling myself Simon Elsworth, (my real name is Stephen Elsworth Simon). I quit drinking. I moved to Nashville. Recorded demos at home (influenced greatly by David Bowie and Iggy Pop) and tried to get a major label deal without representation, (delusions of grandeur, how embarrassing). Put a band together which went no where but was a lot of fun. Put a better band together which went no where but was even more fun. Wrote country songs with my best friend Will Mandell. Appeared as Sgt. Windel in the movie “A Letter From Death Row” in which I cut off Bret Michaels’ hair(lead singer for the ‘80’s metal band Poison). Appeared as the bartender in the movie “Stephen King’s The Night Flier” Got paid for writing country music to someone else’s lyrics, (whore). Fell in love. Put a band together with Will and his friend Steve Emahiser called the junedogs. Had a lot of fun, played in Atlanta for a live video webcast guesthouselive. They liked us so much we came back and did another web cast. Recorded an album with the junedogs. Got married. Went back to using the perfectly good name my loving parents gave me. Recorded the album I want you to hear, called Stupid Now. Recorded another album I want you to hear, called Turn It Off. |
